I guess no no one is considering space denial, they don’t have to target them all: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kessler_syndrome

What is hopefully happening, is the more equipment Ukraine gets, the less Starlink is needed. This war is a exception to military communications kept separate from civilian networks. That may be changing.

Russia does not have to target each satellite individually. If they put a ton of steel balls in the orbital plane they can take out a bunch.

Shielding is becoming a factor in keeping satellites from debris damage:

Brilliant: that way they can take out all of their satellites and the Chinese satellites too.

Nothing like shooting yourself while shooting at everyone else to solve your problems! Space debris doesn't care who it hits..

Musk’s satellites are in low orbits to minimize transmission lag. Their satellites are probably slightly higher.

“Such matters are also challenging considering that SpaceX has not only received significant subsidies from the U.S. government, but that the U.S. Agency for International Development reportedly also paid the company to send over 1,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine.”

Possibly. But how many Soyuz crews will be willing to traverse that flight level to get to where they're going?

Space trash at 25,000 MPH will make a mark.
