Very possible the US does not want Ukraine to necessarily win, they just want Russia to loose their ability to fight and collapse the Putin regime. That was goal but a fantasy.
Everything we've done to provoke this war has convinced most Russians that this war is a fight for Russia's survival. Russians are rallying behind Putin like we rallied behind Bush after 9/11.
