I also thought it odd to use a F-22. I wouldn’t use a stealth jet to go after a balloon loaded with sensors, figuring the Chinese would appreciate the radar cross section info. Would think a F-15 or F-16 would complete this mission without issue
F-22 has higher service ceiling.
What would be the proper reaction? Returning it via DHL on our dime?
Obviously, you’re not in the brandon administration.
My question is: did they have to explode it with an AAM? Might a few rounds have done the same, while maybe preserving the guts for recovery? Or are there no top guns in the USAF?
Is this the same balloon that was in Montana?
I thought this was a second one.
If there was only one, then it certainly did traverse the entire US, from the Aleutians to the Atlantic.
Now, we know what the Chicom’s $50-100,000,000 bought.
I've talked w F-22 pilots, and they raved about their jet.
Why was it cancelled? I have no idea. (Happened during the Obama administration, IIRC.)
Why doesn’t the US just put a couple of SR71’s flying circuits over China at 80k feet at about mach 5 ?
No matter what the spin . . . biden allowed it to invade our airspace . . . a treasonous act and the sumbitch should be removed.
Don't worry about camel toe, she'll run to Venezuela on a talking tour and we can re-install a real man back into the Presidency.
SR-71 top speed was about Mach 3.3 or 3.4.
Of the many telescopes that are available in the country, I expected a better picture than this one. FOX failed in presenting the balloon news, properly. Hopefully our armed forces have better close ups. They certainly had time enough to focus clearly.
The Jets used were out of Langley AFB and those are F-22s.
