I started taking SS as soon as I could when I was 62. I'm 66 now. I had every expectation of living at least until my mid 80s... until I came down with lung cancer three months ago.
I'm glad I retired when I was 51. I've had almost 15 years of mostly excellent health since then.
The only thing you can know for sure about the future is that it will be different than you expect.

A generation would have to say OK, take my SS and I know I won’t be getting any. It’s going to be very hard to find a generation of people that are ok with that.

This is ridiculous, someone who just ran up $8T in national debt now telling us some programs can’t even be looked at for potential cuts to balance the budget.

Between crime and fentanyl/other drugs, US life expectancy is decreasing. So, Dem policies (oddly enough) may be helping SS and Medicare. Sad to say, criminals and drug users probably wouldn’t have put in much anyway...
The point is that we have idiots, both in the Republican Party and even on FR itself, who are indeed calling for the destruction of Social Security and/or Medicare.
Obviously, anyone suggesting doing such is either an utter immoral, heartless fool who should be damned to hell or a Democratic operative.
