This is a hilarious way to start 2023.
If folks want security and privacy they need to stick to dogs and cats!
The penalty for hacking needs to be hanging. Our governments do NOTHING.
Good thing they had LifeLock.
You couldn’t sit down and think this stuff up.
Not a great endorsement for Norton LifeLock.
IRONY much?
Great. Now what do I do?
I’ve had LifeLock for probably 15 years now.... Didn’t get anything from them about a data breach but I do when anyone else does.
Our governments are the most prolific hackers. LOL
The article claims they’ve e-mailed who all they think was affected, so I’d suggest the following:
1. Double check your e-mail for notification
2. Login to their site and make sure that e-mail is what you have registered with them
3. Change your password on the site, and re-login with the new password
4. Change the password on any other site you used that same password
5. Be on the lookout for further notices
Good luck.
I agree. Two things caused me to lose respect for the American people for not fighting back hard:
Identity theft
and
Red light cameras.
For the identity theft an IT expert friend of mine agreed that the perps never really get punished-—they get plea bargains and usually get hired for big bucks as experts by corporations to analyze and advise on methods of uncovering and fighting serious hacking.
Early red light camera discussion on a radio show featured the male host saying “That’s terrible. What happens to our rights? I’d like to see them in court having the camera system records on trial.” Female: “They already successfully defended them in courts and won. All they have to do is charge you as the vehicle owner.” Guy was flustered but I’m sure later shrugged and went on with his life.
Story referenced on Free Republic later said a discovered private correspondence recorded by a red light company guy and the local law enforcement boss said: “The lights for Anders, Stadium, Oakbrook and Stillwell are not recommended locations. Analysis shows you don’t get enough traffic there to make any money on them.”
Governments lie and pretend they are “helping” make places “safe” from traffic menaces. Total BS. Many new types of accidents have taken place because a hesitant or dimwitted driver gets partly into the intersection, 2nd driver is behind and the lead car stops, the light turns and the driver behind either gets the ticket or speeds up and hits the car ahead. Or someone hesitates in a turn. And many others make various types of reckless moves and cause accidents due to worrying about the light changing.
But the people are meek sheep.
The week of WEF. Imagine that
I’ve already emailed them.. thanks on the other info.
Lifelock is the worst online experience I’ve ever had. Signed up for a year, didn’t renew. Completely useless and consumer unfriendly.
Definitely go with Cramden Life Lock.
Today I received a check for $5.21 from the Equifax Breach settlement
Maybe I can buy an egg or two.
To encrypt a file using vim:
set cm=blowfish2 set key=<secret key> w mysecrets.txt
When you open the file going forward, you'll be required to provide the secret key. Vim is available for Windows as well as MacOS and Linux.
This also has the advantage that you can protect arbitrary text.
Will check into vim.
