And so it begins.

Regarding redistricting, the battle (just like counting votes in a close election) often never ends until the Democrat wins.

In this case, a trio of ultra-liberal Democrat judges have mystically divined the "intent" of Republicans who drew the new district lines in South Carolina and, what a surprise, they have arbitrarily decided that those Republicans were "racist"! To these black-robed tyrants, this alleged racism means that the Republican-created district map is invalid and therefore must be redrawn in order to give the Democrats the best possible chance of flipping at least one South Carolina congressional district in 2024 and beyond.

Democrat racists will hardly be content to mandate a new Democrat gerrymander in just this state alone, and so you better get ready for similar actions in numerous other states -- pretty much any other state in which Republicans controlled the redistricting process. OTOH, you need not be concerned about Republican lawsuits (if any even exist) attempting to overturn hyper-partisan Democrat gerrymanders in places such as Illinois, California, Oregon, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Mexico, etc.

Any GOP lawsuits which might someday arise in places like those will be quickly dismissed for "lack of standing" -- with perhaps one exception. The U.S. Supreme Court agreed a few months ago to eventually hear arguments that Democrat judges had illegally seized the redistricting process in North Carolina from the rightful control of the GOP legislature (which is exactly what those judges did). This has Democrats slightly concerned that their similar illegal power plays might be jeopardized elsewhere, but there is no evidence of this yet and the Democrats' partisan gerrymander in North Carolina still exists for now.

Pretty sure the Supreme Court has spoken on this. Roberts, even that guy, does not like Fed Courts playing a role in state electoral politics.

If I were in the Speaker of the House of the South Carolina legislature I would stand before the house and announce that we will with all due respect to the court ignore their ruling because the court is acting outside their jurisdiction.

The sole power of how, whet and when elections are held is granted by the constitution to the legislature of the states.

Nowhere is any power over elections given to the courts.

We never would have won the house without the court gerrymandering New York for us. We should be thankful. They are redoing SC-1 which looks ridiculous. Have you seen the overall map of SC-1? Lol.

A question the state should ask the ‘judges’ just before telling them to pound sand. The constitution is pretty clear on who gets to control the process of an election.

"We never would have won the house without the court gerrymandering New York for us."

No court in any way "gerrymandered" New York in FAVOR of the Republicans. What a court did was to simply (and probably temporarily) disallow a ridiculous hyper-partisan DEMOCRAT gerrymander and drew the lines a little more fairly and in a more non-partisan fashion.

The GOP picked up several New York districts this time around -- and in *most* cases probably will not win them again -- despite the fact that those surprise victories all took place in districts where Democrats still outnumber Republicans: CD-3, CD-4, CD-17, CD-19, CD-22 (FWIW, Trump lost every single one of these).

That's why they were surprises, and is also why those outcomes are unlikely to be replicated even if the Democrats don't implement another gerrymander for 2024.

Meanwhile the real injustice and inequality is ignored.

1. Medicaid and most of society and law now recognizes that a baby has rights and is a person from the start is (was) not counted in the 2020 Census. Thus areas with many babies are underrepresented and areas with few babies are over represented. (Btw the census is used for planning of where there will be a need for schools, parks, etc)

2. Population is leaving some states in droves and increasing rapidly in other states. The disproportionate underrepresentation in some compared to others is far greater . Of course, this has always been true in the US, a very mobile country.

"Nowhere is any power over elections given to the courts."

Civil rights legislation and court decisions from the "integration era" do precisely that.

They ‘get the authority’ because they GET THE POWER. And how do they get the power - they get it from conservatives sitting out November elections to ‘teach the GOP a lesson’, when their candidates are less then pristine Tea Party types.

Power, By Any Means Necessary!

They're like The Terminator. They never, ever stop.

Well, unless it's Florida - where nearly a million Democrat "voters" disappeared between 2018 and 2022.

TOTALLY because DeSantis "stopped vote fraud", and not because The Party That Never Stops pulled the vote fraud cash from Florida to buy US Senate races in more fertile ground.

The national DNC vote fraud machine spent the normal New York vote-rigging cash elsewhere, picking up US Senate seats, and relied on the local vote fraud machine to "get 'er done", in the face of a very real Red Wave.

Same thing happened in California, where not one California Republican US House seat was lost, and they in fact picked up two seats.

The thing that people need to understand about the vote fraud - they only have so much money to create "ballots", so the factory-style rigging isn't everywhere.

Interesting how they got TWO district stooges onto a Circuit Court panel.

I'll have to look into that.

I live in SC 1. All ya need to know is that Clyburn represents SC 6 who lost some votes and wealthy donors when the districts were redrawn.
