Boehner. McCarthy could have replaced him in 2015 but withdrew at the last minute for still unclear reasons. Some suggested he was concerned he would only barely get to 218. Ended up with Ryan who didn’t want the job.
Mixed feelings here. He’s not all we would like, but it’s time to move forward. What concessions are critical? Narrow the list and move on.
