This is sort of like holding your nose to vote for McStain or Romney in 2008 and 2012.

Yeah, sort of - rooting for the lesser of two evils is something conservatives have had to live with for decades now. But if we end up with someone even more "moderate" than McCarthy due to Democrat input into the speakership, we've lost the one good to come out of the 2022 elections - the House majority.

If just a few Republican vote not for McCarthy he can’t win. They will have to get someone new. McCarthy is a Rino.

Biggs is running for self advancement, more than anything else. With such a slim GOP majority now is not the time to cause a GOP party rumble that could well result in a Dim sponsored House leader and cause Biggs supporters even more heartache in the House.

Biggs is LDS - McCarthy is Catholic like Pelosi and other Speakers in my lifetime. Why that is, I don’t know. Newt Gingrich (Catholic) was my Rep when he was Speaker and I liked him fine. Fortunately, Many Catholics are waking up: https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251793/new-poll-catholic-voters-sour-on-biden-democrats

But doesn’t McCarthy have Trump’s support to be Speaker? Why would Trump support a RINO instead of a MAGA?

He gotta a whoppin 30 votes. A long way to go to 218

And the Democrats only need 4 RINOs to elect their own Speaker.

"and the GOP being a laughing stock."

Or, to be more precise, MORE of a laughing stock.

I listened to MTG week before last. She explained very well why she’s voting for McCarthy. Nothing to do with McCarthy establishment track record and questionable conservative credentials. McCarthy scriptwriters and PR Pros are as good as those of DeSantis. They can make inexperienced conservatives swoon.

But MTG said that although she personally would prefer someone else, someone other than McCarthy, she said we need to wake up to reality.

MTG said if conservatives are not careful, they’ll get some disaster like Paul Ryan for Speaker. MTG explained that although McCarthy was not ideal, at the least members could bring pressure to him and hold him to account.

I nodded in approval thinking MTG made some good points.

But Biggs, although he doesn’t have the votes to be Speaker, makes good points too. This is a rare opportunity for conservatives to make themselves the establishment in DC, not with grift and bribes, but with real policy to reverse the Oligarchs and Marxists who are destroying the country.

So I’m on the fence. And I’m looking for a firebrand who can get the votes. Maybe an outsider like Newt Gingrich could get the votes. Say what you will about Newt, there’s no denying he set America on a different, more conservative track.
