"When you have three officers standing at a barricade and 300 people are threatening to kill you if you don’t open the barricade, you open the barricade."

Get your glasses out, gramps, there are a dozen USCP and approximately 150 protestors at this East Capital plaza. If 12 armed Capitol Police can't handle 150 unarmed tourists, then they need to go back to rent-a-cop duty at the mall.

You don't understand what was happening. USCP had appx 3 officers at each pedestrian control point. The decision was made to relinquish the outer and then the inner perimeter when it became clear they were woefully underprepared for the crowd size. USCP are not really a police force. They are more akin to TSA with guns. They handle security screening to enter the capitol. They are not equipped to handle the situation they found themselves in prior to the Capitol breach. So they reverted to their training.

What is your alternative theory? That street-level USCP officers were part of some pre-planned conspiracy to allow the Capitol to be breached? Is that what you're saying?

The protest was against the war, I only went there because of the potential violence, for adventure, my position on the war was that we win it since we were already there.

I did get arrested not for actions but because the entire area was cordoned off and all people present were arrested.

It was a fascinating experience to watch the operation, to be held in an internment camp for days without food, and then to see the wonderful way they fed us when we finally got to a DC city jail, huge boxes of dry bologna sandwiches, an endless supply of them which I thought was wonderful.

It was a great experience and the whole thing lasted weeks with the before/during/and after, I had a little hippie following by the time I left DC.

area of operations and I stayed away.
