I have no sympathy for Brooks, know he’s a scumbag and not excusing anything. He should have been locked up during the parade. I’m saying there were not enough consequences for his previous mentally ill violent behavior so he continued to spiral into greater violence after each time. Right before this incident, he ran over his girlfriend and shot at his nephew. As close to killing two people as you can get and he was released on only $500 bail. Homicide was pretty much an inevitable next step.

He was so used to getting away with violence that it seemed like he really believed could get away with this. He already ran someone over and was free with his mamma’s bail money so the consequences didn’t register in his idiot skull.

We can speculate on motive of a madman all we want but there was not enough evidence to prove terrorism in a court of law. He received the max possible sentence for what could be proven.

Likely true due to threat of riots demanding certain optics. However that is an entirely different issue to deal with and charging Brooks would not fix this mob rule in any way. It would only descend us further into it.

Likely also true but motivation for this particular incident has to be proven in court for terrorism charges. Angry tweets 15 months beforehand during the saint floyd media powderkeg do not prove it.
