I’ll tell you, a lot of my Marine buddies thought Mattis was awesome and were terribly disappointed when he turned out to be a scum-bag. Can’t even tell you in this forum what some of them say now!
I didn’t know any of those characters before they turned out to be dirtbags and have followed politics for years.
If I went to DC as president, I wouldn’t have the slightest clue who to trust. I would have to ask someone. Oh, and you bet there would be a line out the door and around the corner of dirtbags wanting to “advise” me.
It’s possible there are no good people in the whole joint!
Having dinner with a rapper and his sketchy friend is quite a bit different than attending a party on Epstein’s island, isn’t it?
But that’s a good point, Bill Gates didn’t catch any flack for going to Epstein’s island (well... mighta cost him a wife and half his fortune XD) so I don’t know why we’re making a big deal about Trumps dinner.

The meeting I was referring to did not meet on Epstein’s island. Epstein was invited by the host, despite not being a billionaire. Any billionaire there was painted with the same broad brush. We have one set of rule for those who agree with a chosen narrative and those who don’t. I don’t like double standards. I don’t trust folks who have them. Dems wouldn’t have any standards if not for double standards, but some conservative groups are giving them a run for their money.
Oh. I don’t recall that story, but if I had would assume that Epstein was there to make contacts. I think all spies do that.
The ones that go to the island though... but thinking on that, even that is not an absolute. I’m sure there were a lot of folks that got close enough (purely through poor decisions) for blackmail to stick.
I suspect this happens a lot in DC. Go to the wrong party and even if you didn’t do anything and left early, bang - damage done. You now owe someone a favor that you cannot refuse.
Concur on your point about double standards, with some caution of course. If it’s a statist leveling the charge, they’re pretty fast and loose with application of intellectual rigor. Best to look pretty closely at the situation before making a determination.
