I know teachers who have students put their cell phones in a rack at the front of the room, turned off. Phones are a terrible distraction for students who should be focusing on learning not texting.

“But you really want the kids paying attention to the teachers and following emergency instructions rather than dicking with their phones in an emergency.”

Well, assuming the teacher isn’t the first person shot when the crazy enters the classroom, which is who I would be shooting first if I were a crazy.

Exactly, we need cameras in the classrooms.

As a retired teacher I’d have no problem with my students’ parents knowing what was said in class. In fact I had lots of parents who told me that that was often a topic of conversation at their dinner table—in this case meant in a good way. But the reality is that cameras in the classroom would do you as a parent no good.

While you have every right to see your child in school, you do not have the right to see or hear other kids. Our district put cameras in the buses so that misbehavers could be identified and punished. And we had proof to show the parents. But while school employees can watch the videos, parents cannot, unless all of the other kids’ faces are blurred out, which was beyond the district’s technical abilities.

Then use a voice to transcription software and provide online the transcription of what the teacher says.

As I said, as a teacher I had no problem with parents knowing what I said in class. But, if you think about it, if your kid is in a district pushing CRT or gender crap, do you think the district is going to take the trouble to report and provide transcriptions of each class every day? And would setting up such a system be the best use of educational spending?

Some districts and their employees are actually hostile to parents’ genuine concerns about what their children are being exposed to, to the point that they want the parents investigated by the FBI. The way I see it, there are two solutions to this: vote out school board members who support the garbage and/or pull your kids out of the district.

Once upon a time, many tears ago there lived a little girl around nine years of age. She was called “the bag lady” because she always carried some sort of bag, maybe two, with her to school.

Bag lady decided to take a tape recorder to school with her, hidden in her bags, to tape her teacher’s abusive rants at the young students. And so she did.

She came home from school that day and confessed to her parents what she had done. Then she played the recording for them to hear.

All I recall was the teacher saying “ You kids are STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!”
There was a ranting of negativities that went on almost 10 minutes. It was chilling and horrifying. Me with the short temper and having a potty mouth of my own...was stunned. The parents went to school and had a discussion with said teacher. I don’t know what was said, but the teacher cleaned up her mouth and attitude. The little bag lady continued to carry her bags, but her parents checked those bags before they went out the door.

I like the idea that teachers can be recorded and held accountable. Today, if I had children, they would not attend public school, or even some private schools. They’re unsafe for anyone.
