Justices of the Catholic faith have predominated on the Court.
You must be younger than I.
While Taney was, as another person noted, the first Catholic, it was not until Reagan that one had multiple Catholics on the court (with, IIRC, about a two-year exception in the early 20th century). However, once Reagan broke the barrier it was broken with a vengance as you note. For the last 2-3 decades, most of the “protestants” have been lapsed or ex-Catholics, with Thomas, who is an ex-seminarian but was practicing as an Episcopalean at confirmation and then eventually reverted being exhibit A.
Asians are really the victims of discrimination. Inherently very intelligent, they have an ethic of hard work and persistence. So they do well. Then they are beaten by members of America’s #1 certified victim group and given an unfair deal in college admissions.
“The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination.”
If ever there was an appropriate time to state “two wrongs do NOT make a right” it’s here.
