Should the Russians send their airborne divisions to train along the Mexican border? You can tease and taunt an animal only so much before it snaps back at you.
The 101st can’t do parachute assaults.

I know. I believe their current jump qualifieds is half a brigade, they are trained for Air Assualt, not Airborne operations. However, they are still held on the Rapid Deployment Force, which is puny if deployed against a real Army ( China Russia)…fine for Panamanians, Cubans, Afghans, and the like.

Dear God, this administration has lost its mind.
My son is a (retired) Screamin’Eagle. This is madness. Whether it’s Marines or Soldiers- we do NOT belong there. I can’t stand Putin OR Zelensky or any of what they’re up to. We’ve been paying billions of dollars to one madman to keep another madman from playing a senseless ugly game. I despise them both and our government that’s subsidizing them..
General Jenny Talia leads from behind, just as Obama said he likes to do.
Well, if the USA has invaded, occupied and annexed the Baja California Peninsula (Crimea), and invaded, occupied and fomented civil wars in Sonora (Luhansk) and Chihuahua (Donetsk), and threatened Mexico with further action if they sought allies, then I'd say Mexico would be quite justified in seeking allies.
Wow. That was a long time ago. Pretty cool. One of the few that survived.
Excellent! Chuckle of the Day.
They have no jump status.
Didn’t both the 82nd and 101st participate in a REFORGER in ‘80 or ‘81? It was very cold in Germany at that time. Trust me.

Yes, but less than a Brigade. No divisional deployment, When I was in, one Brigade was on alert for RDF, a really pitiful force designed to be deployed anywhere in the world in 18 hours- suitable for a Zaire operation, Panama excursion, but without “ backup” in three days- they are toast.
It was very interesting to be drinking at the regimental headquarters canteen and talking about the battle with men who were there.
They have no jump status.

When I was in the 82nd we called them “ Lost Legs”, but I was under the impression they still maintained a few Pathfinder units to support their Air Mobile Ops.
And if Mexico joined a hostile alliance without any U.S activity in Mexico, what then?
bkmk
I noticed that too. Lazy journalism. The 101st has been to Europe dozens of times in the past 80 years. Rotational training, exercises, EDI efforts. The list goes on and on.
The fact is though, we were never really “neutral” in WWI. We were aiding the Brits the whole time, even though Britain had imposed a Naval Blockade on Germany, so that US Ships couldn’t get through to Germany. Thus, the U-Boats to try to ‘level the playing field’.
A true neutral would have told the Brits to allow US ships to supply Germany, or else we wouldn’t risk our ships to supply Britain.
You won’t prevent Latin American countries forming alliances in the future with whoever they please. Try to stop it militarily and you will get “yanquee go home” on steroids
I’m no expert on them but I think the pathfinder type jump status died out around 2014 give or take.
Yeah, we have internal political problems. So get out the vote.
But I’m not willing to trade our dire need to get the vote out in November with having Putin or Xi as our ruler.
