Racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe...Russian dude/agent/troll. It’s all liberals and neocons have when faced with facts that refute them.

You're lying. Macgregor nor anyone else claimed that.

Further, Russia never intended to invade Kiev. The Russians were using the threat of an invasion to pressure Ukraine into negotiating and to keep Ukrainian troops in place while they turned their attention to liberating Donbass.

That you don't know that shows how utterly clueless you are about the war. But, that's what happens when you believe Biden regime propaganda.

Inside Russia’s epic failure to take Ukraine’s capital
BYROBERT BURNS AND THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
April 6, 2022 at 5:24 AM EDT

Kyiv was a Russian defeat for the ages. The fight started poorly for the invaders and went downhill from there.

When President Vladimir Putin launched his war on Feb. 24 after months of buildup on Ukraine’s borders, he sent hundreds of helicopter-borne commandos — the best of the best of Russia’s “spetsnaz” special forces soldiers — to assault and seize a lightly defended airfield on Kyiv’s doorstep.

Other Russian forces struck elsewhere across Ukraine, including toward the eastern city of Kharkiv as well as in the contested Donbas region and along the Black Sea coast. But as the seat of national power, Kyiv was the main prize. Thus the thrust by elite airborne forces in the war’s opening hours.

But Putin failed to achieve his goal of quickly crushing Ukraine’s outgunned and outnumbered army. The Russians were ill-prepared for Ukrainian resistance, proved incapable of adjusting to setbacks, failed to effectively combine air and land operations, misjudged Ukraine’s ability to defend its skies, and bungled basic military functions like planning and executing the movement of supplies.

“That’s a really bad combination if you want to conquer a country,” said Peter Mansoor, a retired Army colonel and professor of military history at Ohio State University.

For now at least, Putin’s forces have shifted away from Kyiv, to eastern Ukraine. Ultimately, the Russian leader may achieve some of his objectives. Yet his failure to seize Kyiv will be long remembered — for how it defied prewar expectations and exposed surprising weaknesses in a military thought to be one of the strongest in the world.

“It’s stunning,” said military historian Frederick Kagan of the Institute for the Study of War, who says he knows of no parallel to a major military power like Russia invading a country at the time of its choosing and failing so utterly.

On the first morning of the war, Russian Mi-8 assault helicopters soared south toward Kyiv on a mission to attack Hostomel airfield on the northwest outskirts of the capital. By capturing the airfield, also known as Antonov airport, the Russians planned to establish a base from which to fly in more troops and light armored vehicles within striking distance of the heart of the nation’s largest city.

It didn’t work that way. Several Russian helicopters were reported to be hit by missiles even before they got to Hostomel, and once settled in at the airfield they suffered heavy losses from artillery fire.

An effort to take control of a military airbase in Vasylkiv south of Kyiv also met stiff resistance and reportedly saw several Russian Il-76 heavy-lift transport planes carrying paratroopers downed by Ukrainian defenses.

Although the Russians eventually managed to control Hostomel airfield, the Ukrainians’ fierce resistance in the capital region forced a rethinking of an invasion plan that was based on an expectation the Ukrainians would quickly fold, the West would dither, and Russian forces would have an easy fight.

What if he used them to attack Odessa? Right now Ukraine will be landlocked. Ukraine did a good job of preparing their defenses in 8 years since Russia seized Crimea. Maybe Zelensky played his part of looking weaker than he appeared to be. So the Russians will be overconfident and ended up making mistakes. Which is what we are seeing now.

Exactly what happened. Britain and NATO have been training the Ukrainian army ever since the Rus invasion of Crimea in 2014. So....... since 2014 Ukrainian army has been improving, while the Russian army has been declining due to theft by generals, piss poor maintenance and other factors. Obviously, no sane Russian wants to fight and die for Putin in the Ukraine.

You know zip.

Who the hell are you, the Russian high command?

You love Russia so much, you know so much about the brilliant Russian War machine.

Why don’t you go to Russia and get the F out of my country you left wing quisling creep.

Even Russia admits the war is a disaster, and little pukes like you are still lecturing everyone about the great Russian plan.

#36.
I hate Biden, Soros, globalism, etc.

That doesn't mean a Russian invasion of Ukraine is good for America, any more than it would be under President Trump.

Putin is a bad actor, multiple threats against America and NATO BEFORE the war.

Agree and Amen.

the arguments of the Russia lovers are 90% disgusting. As in Russia is a wonderful country fighting a holy war, and the USA is evil and has been in every war we've fought.
A lot of Freepers are shaking their heads over this.

#19, Dennisw: Col. Douglas Macgregor must have been one of those military geniuses back in February, who claimed that said Russia would roll over Kiev in 7 days. Was he?

#62. Kazan: You're lying. Macgregor nor anyone else claimed that.

Col. Douglas Macgregor on Putin's next steps in the Ukraine invasion, Feb 27, Fox News, first 2 minutes.

Macgregor: "if they don't surrender in the next 24 hours I suspect that the Russians will ultimately annihilate them" and "the game is over".

Close enough. Scott Ritter and all the other big name shills were singing the same tune at the time.

Thanks for finding that! I looked myself. Col. Douglas Macgregor prefers to deliver his opinions via TV and video. So not as easy as searching for his written words. He comes off as, his manner is of an authoritative truth teller. He is a regular on Tucker Carlson. One of his Tucker segments was rebroadcast on Russian TV.

Scratch deeper, and Macgregor is a Putin partisan. Same as many stuck Freepers, who still admire Putin for cultural reasons. I was one of them last year. This ended for me when he invaded Ukraine. Now I know the real Putin and the real Russians.

#73. I think you posted that before. I was kind of in the same boat. The last eight months have been a another major wake up call. Now its a realization that while the US was focused on the Middle East and Afghanistan, the Cold War was on a slow restart and a lot of us missed it.

“while the US was focused on the Middle East and Afghanistan, the Cold War was on a slow restart and a lot of us missed it.”

Indeed. Putin has been slow plotting this invasion for more than a decade. But it really got started with his 2014 Crimea invasion, that I was oblivious to. Then he had the Kerch Bridge built to solidify Crimea. At the time, I thought this bridge was simply an amazing accomplishment.

Vlad’s Cold War2 was enticing Germany-Europe with cheap gas. Then, when they are addicted, invade Ukraine. For old fashioned USSR imperialism reasons.

Yes, I posted once before about being favorable to Putin in the past. He was anti all the negatives we see in American and Western culture.

The WEF and the Covid scam/vaccinations has driven many freepers crazy to where they are Pro-Russian and anti-US. Funny thing is I despise Klaus and his WEF as much as they do.

B I  N G O.

Then you start to catch on to the patterns of how Russian propagandists differ from the news (which is still bad) and from each other (not all shills work the same).

That doesn’t mean a Russian invasion of Ukraine is good for America, any more than it would be under President Trump.

Ukraine is rich in energy and did resources, as well as manpower and strategic position.
It is best he loses - for America.

And the arguments of theRussia lovers are 90% disgusting. As in Russia is a wonderful country fighting a holy war, and the USA is evil and has been in every war we’ve fought.

They are idiots who can’t chew gum (hate Biden) and walk (oppose Russian aggression) at the same time.
______________

Same here. I can do two things at the same time. Be very anti-WEF and anti-globalism. And be against this Putin invasion. Many of the Putinists here are still in savior mode with him. This is sick. They want the US and NATO to fail against Russia in Ukraine. Sick.

Also sick is how they are still railing against Nazis in Ukraine. I’ll bet that prior to Putin’s invasion, they never gave a thought about how anti-Nazi they are. This is juvenile fakery.

Well said. A lot of them act like angry children and they make ridiculous accusations against everyone who disagrees. They demonstrate that their judgment is lousy and that they are knee jerk reactionaries.

Many are so incredibly pro Putin and hate Ukraine, I question their motives or their emotional stability.
