In 2021 Russian population 145 million, US population 331 million.

A sizeable chunk of our population is not American and likely will never be American. Does Russia have the same open borders that America has? Even our f'n illegals get counted. That is at minimum 50-60 million right there.

“I truly do not understand the pro-Russian sentiments of so many Freepers.”

Many of them are frauds or paid KGB or RUS nationalists, etc.

Take Red6 posting BS KGB-esq propaganda:

“US tax dollars essentially used to hire these mercenaries.
The DOJ closing their eyes as these folks travel (usually they try to stop them).

Ukraine openly recruiting on their government web sites abroad and the US not stopping this.”

He’s supposedly a US military and USG veteran retireee yet posting inaccuracies which someone with USG and US military experience would know are not accurate.

Doesn’t/can’t distinguish between volunteer and mercenary when soldiers receive specific training how to distinguish between the two as well as law of war training regarding both -which is required for deployed troops.

Then mentions the USG doing things like controlling a foreign government’s website or placing supposed destination ban on foreign travel. All things endemic to Russia and Russian point of view, not America and USG. The guy is a fraud. At most he is thoroughly pwned by KGB propaganda but I doubt it. He’d have to be really far in to hold Russo-centric views of American government policies and definitions.

From one article linked in the list I provided....

“We lost five people for every one they did,” said Ihor, a 30-year-old platoon commander....”

No doubt, your best example.

One estimate, by one junior officer, of one battle, where the Ukrainians were on the offense.

Lopsided casualties can be expected on the offense.

For most of the war so far, the Russians have been on the offense.

The idea that the example is indicative of total casualties for the whole war is absurd.

People could just as easily look at the numerous videos where Russians are being killed without any Ukrainians being killed, and reach equally absurd conclusions.

Giap admitted to about 1.1 million dead, with between 275,000 or so South Viet military casualties. He said that he wanted the world to fully appreciate the nature and sacrificial resolve of the Vietnamese people to achieve final victory.

It would appear that the US actually underestimated the numbers of enemy troops that were killed, notwithstanding the occasional body count inflation by commanders who were often pressured to do so by those higher ups obsessed with the body count metric.

Of course, Giap had incentive to inflate those numbers. They may be true. Difficult to know.

However, your post illustrates the incentive of people who percieve themselves to be defending their homes, families, and nation.

They are willing to accept very high casualties.

Nor do I. I don’t understand why anyone is pro either side here.

I agree. We are America First conservatives. I am not a big fan of Ukraine after how they treated President Trump. However, kicking Russian corruption and influence out of Europe is certainly in American political and economic interests. President Trump advocated that in his first term and will do it again in his second term. We must not forget it was Biden who removed Trump’s sanctions on Russia and still partners with Putin to nuke up Iran.

It appears about 45 million people in the USA were not born in the USA. Maybe 10-25 million of those are illegal immigrants. Very difficult to know, but I tend toward believing the high side. Those immigrants, no coincidence, are concentrated in the deep blue states of California and New York.

I always thought it telling that the native USA population was endlessly propagandized not to have children, while endlessly promoting the importation of non-US citizens.

I know these numbers are open to interpretation. The numbers have been pegged as you quote them for decades. Consider that our media and .gov have been lying for those same number of decades the real number is just as likely double my estimates.
