My son-in-law was in Korean War, stationed at the DMZ and watched the Norks do that to anyone trying to escape. . Horrible people, but he did like South Koreans very much. Interesting times.

I don't think S. Korea needs us much anymore. Maybe as a nuclear tripwire. But on the conventional side of it, S. Korea is quite strong now, backed up by an arms industry that is becoming a major international player.
