Have you bothered to look at the change in the Ukraine situational map from April to now?

First, it's a straw man argument. Russia went into the war with purpose of liberating Donetsk and Lugansk and protecting the ethnic Russian population there from genocide at the hands of Ukrainian neo-Nazis and nationalists. And, the Russians also wanted to build a land bridge from Russia to Crimea.

The Russians never had any intention of going west of the Dnieper River.

But, Russia has made had huge gains over the past six months:

In February, Russians controlled around 17,000 square miles of Ukrainian land, according to Ukraine's mission to the U.N. — Crimea being the size of Maryland and the self-proclaimed independent "republics" in Ukraine's east amounting to a territory about the size of New Jersey.

Six months into the full-scale invasion, Russia has expanded its territory in Ukraine almost threefold. In June, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia has occupied 20% of the country, or about 47,000 square miles.

I haven't seen the original photograph (and after trying to find it and seeing the photographer's other work, which all seems to be along the same theme, I really don't want to), but these people show that the guy standing next to Zelensky is one of his advisors and the guy standing behind him is somebody else in politics. It's extremely unlikely that actually happened in real life. So the photo is fake.
