Didn’t get washed away, but nearby fire caused loss of power and internet. The sceptic in me says the bar and grill didn’t have flood insurance but did have it for fire.....but that’s just me speculatin’.....

Flooding in Hooper Bay on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022. A powerful storm that hit a wide swath of Western Alaska forced some Hooper Bay residents to evacuate. (Photo by Ervin Chayalkun) Pinging those that replied to the first Alaskan Historic flooding thread yesterday.
As was noted yesterday, the climate change politicians are proclaiming it the worst eveh before the damage assessment is completed.
Prayers needed for those living on the edge in Alaska.

The Nome-Council road just east of Nome is not flooded. It's just gone. Photo Saturday afternoon by B. Marvin and shared with permission.

A fire Saturday evening reduced a popular restaurant on Nome’s Front Street to ash, city officials said.Gusts from the major storm battering the Western Alaska coast stirred up the flames at the Bering Sea Bar and grill. The fire was reported around 7 p.m. and was contained by about 3 a.m., said Acting Nome City Manager Bryant Hammond.
“The winds really fanned the flames,” he said. “It looked like it would get under control and then it would pick back up again because there were 40-knot winds just supplying the fire with oxygen.”
I don't think that there are many popular restaurants in Nome, so this mat be a real loss to the sailors and tourists.

“Note that almost all local reporting is through Tweet.”
Twitter is how the mayor of Baltimore advised the people that the water supply had been contaminated. I find this outrageous. Assuming that everyone has twitter is false even if people were not banned.

I will say probably more peeps would see it on Tweater than if it was in a “newspaper”

How about local news on TV or radio?
To: Freee-dame
That would be more widespread, for sure.
