It’s kind of ironic that the shape of the Russian-occupied territory on your map looks just like the map of Vietnam.
Did they fight their way in?
“Where the Russian flag has been hoisted, it shall never be lowered.”
OR NOT.
It says controlled by “pro-Russian separatists.” Then it shows these areas as having “Russian Army Presence”?
I think Ukraine was wise to wait until they had received enough western weapons that they weren’t worried about running out during the offensive.
Biden should be tarred and feathered for taking so long. Moscow Joe has to earn the Russian bribes to Hunter.
The footage from after the Russian invasion compared to after the Ukrainian offensive couldn’t be starker.
Russia trotted out terrified seniors who said nice things about Russia while scowling.
Ukrain is showing videos of smiling people running and hugging Ukrainian soldiers.
My guess is we are going to see the same thing in Donetsk and Crimea when they are liberated.
I already saw an interview with a Crimean store owner, who said that Russia put more into Crimean infrastructure, but that Russia had devastated the tourist trade because most of the tourists used to be from Ukraine.
German NPR
“Deutsche Welle (DW) is Germany’s international broadcaster and one of the most successful and relevant international media outlets.
The German BBC. Modeled on the BBC anyway.
Ukraine got smart with its strategy (or started listening to some smart European generals perhaps).
They don’t have to defeat the Russians en masse, and they don’t even have to defeat them in detail, they only have to set up a situation where the Russian occupation is untenable. That means lots of feints to force Russian to redeploy troops constantly, never knowing where a real attack will come. It means pressuring Russian supply lines to the breaking point. It means striking behind Russian lines, sabotage, and funding insurgents. Death by a thousand cuts rather than one decisive battle.
Well, the separatists controlled it first, and the separatists also allow the Russian army to operate there.
Money quote:
The key question in the coming weeks is whether Ukraine can hold the territories it has already liberated.
DW, an excellent National Socialist German source.
Is it just for staging?
Indeed!
vs what price does putin want to pay to get it back...
“.... since September 6, the Ukrainian army has liberated more than 6,000 square kilometers...”
Yeah, okie dokie.
