griswold3 :" When asked if railroad workers should strike once released from the “cooling-off” period required by the Railway Labor Act,
96 percent said they should."

I'm not surprised !
When family expenses are raised by 12%-18% for food,
and a negotiated settlement is offering only 5% raises
the union members are seeing a net income loss of 7- 13% for working.
There are greater incentives offered through the union for them to NOT work.
This could easily become a FUBAR situation, affecting the national supply chain for food, commodities, livestock feed, commerce, and manufacturing re-supplies.
The threat of a national railroad union strike would create chaos and a massive national shut down,
since union folks will not be able to bypass or cross over other striking railroad union lines.
The two largest membership railroad unions have not yet agreed on a contract, and negotiations will be going on into the last minute.
