Any idea why the lack of drivers? Has the disability/death rate increased so much in that age group causing a shortage?

We are having the same problem around here. Not enough people for drivers and many other jobs.

Regulations.

My son’s GF has a brother who is a trucker. Massive amount of regulation which leads to hour long inspections by the the police. Dozens of potential issues which lead to fines, which the driver is stuck with. Add in traffic jams, Sunday mandated shutdowns for the drivers and pay scale. Whole national commerce landscape is affected by this.
