“Compliance checks are not about confiscating guns, but about ensuring individuals who have lost their firearms rights to transfer their firearms to law enforcement or someone who is legally able to possess them,” Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly said during a news conference at the state police’s metro-east headquarters in Collinsville.

Red Flag Law nightmares, where if a family member, friend, neighbor doesn't like you, you can lose your 2nd Amendment rights indefinitely.

I can’t seem to find FOID or Red Flag exceptions in the 2nd Amendment RKBA.

They these people lost their FOID cards would be a useful tidbit of information. We’re they convicted of crimes? Did they have TROs against them? Were they dumb enough to apply for Medical Marijuana cards?

I guess that “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” is now inoperative?

The police are terrified of going into the high non-compliance areas

They are picking the low hanging fruit

Can't speak for other states but New York has, since that recent SCOTUS decision that went against the state, enacted a number of new laws to infringe upon 2nd Amendment rights. It's said that at least some of those laws are in direct defiance of clear rulings handed down by SCOTUS.

That's the strategy of Rat Party Headquarters...nuisance laws that they know will take years to overturn.

Is that what this is? The author, nor the state police spokesman actually state any of the reasons.

Red Flag Laws? Gun owner got locked up for something that would prohibit possession?

Government and police response to pretty much everything: keep the answer cloudy, muddy and confusing. Answer without actually answering. So they can dodge the disastrous outcomes and avoid responsibility for everything.

Which is why you are stupid to obey ANY Illinois gun law, if you don’t have a FOID card and only you buy your guns from individuals, cash only. There are no records of any guns in your names. Nobody can go after you for something they don’t even knows exists. As far as Illinois law enforcement should know, you don’t own a single gun, never have, and have no interest in even a FOID card.

“Think the police would go for the high non compliance area 1st?”

Most gun owners in Chicago don’t have FOID cards so there is no list for police to go visit.

As per “Heyjackass.com”, they should send swat teams into the worst neighborhoods in Cook County (south and west Chicago), lock em down and take every last gun out of those areas.
I know, I know, it’s unconstitutional, but why should that stop Pritzger’s cronies?
We would see the number of shootings drop to -0-.

‘’The Illinois State Police has received temporary permission from state officials for an emergency rule change to broaden the use of “clear and present danger reports” that can bar Illinois citizens from getting a FOID card or cause a revocation of a FOID card, according to a news release by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

This decision was announced after the July 4th mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, where seven people were killed.

The suspect in this case had received a FOID card after a clear and present danger report previously had been filed on him. “The former administrative rule required a clear and present danger to be ‘impending,’ ‘imminent,’ ‘substantial’ or ‘significant,’ according to the governor’s news release. “Clear and present danger under state law however is more broadly defined requiring ‘physical or verbal behavior, such as violent, suicidal, or assaultive threats, actions, or other behavior…’”
