the latest forecasts seeing bills topping 6,500 pounds annually
The basic State Pension here in the UK is £141.85 per week or approx £7,400 per year. Subtract 6,500 leaves £900 (plus sedentary old folks tend to need a lot more home heating than the average household). Not a lot for the rest of the household budget, such as food and TV licence!
