In California, the two main natural disasters are earthquakes and wildfires. Both are short-notice events that have the potential to knock out the power grid with no warning, making it especially difficult, if not impossible, to charge a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV),” a case study from California Polytechnic State University found.

That’s a funny video, but the viewer comments on it reflect a terrifying lack of knowledge of physics.

My boss couldn’t understand why they didn’t have generators on the wheels of electric cars so the battery would charge while traveling. 🙄

I work wildland fires. Every place where there has been one, sales of lightweight internal combustion engine trucks explode.

My decades old IC V6 car with power everything has everything I need and doesn’t make a fraction of the negative environmental impact of a new electric car.And it has a range of over 400 miles per “full charge” of gasoline. Can be “recharged” in 5 minutes.

Imagine a car that can’t be charged when all the power lines are down and generators fail. It’s a boat anchor.
Then imagine a car with a small battery and an internal combustion engine. Hmm…

Wouldn’t a power outage prevent you from pumping gasoline?

I have been saying the push to electric. As long as no EMP. Gas and diesel will run with stored fuel, sonnhas older diesel car that can run on used cooking oil

The solution is an ICE vehicle...just like it’s always been.

EV’s are at best playthings...nice grocery getters but not serious vehicles. Yet (perhaps).
