While I don’t necessarily disagree with your conclusions, there may be another way of looking at it.
Ask yourself the question, “If I am a candidate, do my chances improve or diminish with an endorsement from Trump.” 80% of the people who did not get Trump’s endorsement lost. I’d say that’s a pretty good indicator of Trump’s appeal with the candidate class.
Will this translate into wins in November? Probably not for everyone Trump endorsed. If the 80% rule still applies, there are going to be a lot of unhappy incumbents in Washington the second day in January 2023.
The percentage that matters is how many win in November.
