Coal-fueled power generation is an efficient dependable and remarkably clean resource. In the US the big switch from coal to natural gas was largely due to the incredible drop in price of NG relative to coal due to fracking. The CO2 canard was not really a driving force, except through the costs imposed on coal by the malice of the government. Europe just foolishly went whole hog and now is paying for it. Doubt they will learn their lesson, but we’ll see.
“Germany’s energy U-turn: Coal instead of gas”
No wonder it’s so hot in Texas today.
Dang.
And now, thinking back, I seem to remember that Hillary helped Russia corner the market on uranium. While we focused on the fact that they got some large percentage of American ore, the bigger deal was she helped them get the concessions to Kakakh uranium mines.
Thats “Kazakh”...
7-8 years ago Germany was even importing our Appalachian coal. They should resume this.
The Germans will not be compromised as a Country and know how to remain independent. This new Senate Bill being voted on now will constrain the USA for many years to come.

We had many relatively inexpensive conversions. Of coal burning power plants into natural gas burning power plants.
PING
When will someone get around to admitting that CO2 emissions are actually beneficial? They are great for agriculture, and don’t do diddly to climate.
Since its publication in 1841, an essential book for understanding humanity is Charles Mackay’s “Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds”. The current climate change frenzy would certainly belong as a chapter in that classic book.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who knows something about coal. I’ve been down in a working mine. An experience for sure. Rules were “overlooked’ to allow a few Seminary Students to ride a mile down in the mine. Had the life changing honor of interviewing several of the miners as they worked. Talking with a bolter as he worked bolting the roof for safety. He was excited to be back to work at the mine after being upside for 2 years. He found that upside was not so great and came back to the mine. He said, “We are a brotherhood down here. We may hate each other when we are topside, but here we are all brothers.” I’ve never forgotten those words. I then went over and stood beside the monster mechanical coal digger as it grabbed out tons of coal with one swipe. It was a very interesting experience and I will never forget it. When I graduated We chose to move to West By God Virginia. Coal is King!
Bend over Gaia.
No impact at all. There is no carbon emitted when coal is burned in India and China. It only produces carbon emissions when its done in Western countries. Everybody knows that.
Excellent!
“I do remember the old days when you came home with a black face if you went to Nashville. And you wheezed through winter.”
I was born in Nashville in 1950 and I don’t remember that.
Brown coal, huge reserves in Germany, dirtier to burn.
Black coal, from US, Russia, SA, and Canada, less dirty, but more expensive.
All this closure business, determined six years ago. Planning cycle crapped all over.
They begged to be screwed over.
>>>President Trump warned them about being dependent on Russian energy.....
The German UN reps laughed at President Trump while he was speaking about the danger of Russian oil/gas dependence.
Stanley Steamer redux
They should’ve restarted their nuke plants.
Thanks, I’ve been reading your blogs, the greens brought this upon Germany, now they’re reluctant to let it go. But they better or people will freeze to death this winter and beyond.
