They’re actually using the USB connector as a wrench to turn the internal column switch after smashing the steering column jacket and breaking it off to get access.
There’s no electrical wizardry involved at all.
I imagine this can be expanded to quite a number of models and makes.
It’s specific to Kia and Hyundai. 66% of vehicles stolen in Milwaukee are those brands.
They lack an anti-theft chip in their circuitry.
