Saw an Eliott Gould movie the other day from ‘71 in which he had a $5,000 note. Those days are long gone. Any note over a $100 that is presented at a bank is by law withheld and the Treasury notified.

You can turn in your $500 bill in for five hundreds at a bank, but that would be really dumb. Any dealer will pay you $1000. Ebay people are paying $1500 in so-so condition (folded, stained, etc).
I came back from Vegas with a few $100 bills (no, I didn't win, I just lost less than I budgeted) and deposited them at the bank. The teller carefully separated out the old from the new bills. When I called her on it and asked if she had been instructed to take the older bills out of circulation when the bank got them she quickly put the bills back into a single pile and denied it. Yeah, right. I just love being lied to by a banker.
The older bills weren't rare enough to be worth holding back like silver coins or really old bills, just the small portrait ones a couple years after they brought out the first big portrait ones.
‘WARNING: Take note all you cash and gold and silver “stackers”. Cash currency will be banned, then they will simply OUTLAW the use or possession of gold and silver by threat of force. Precious metals will be driven underground and its only value will rest on your personal bartering skills.
The absolute truth. The government is not going to let the people outmaneuver them in regard to precious metals, or anything for that matter’
That is why I stack platinum
Define "help."
America says it's "committed" to Israel maintaining its air superiority over the region. We give aircraft to Israel that we won't even sell to its neighbors.
Much of the "aid" that America sends to other nations (Iraq, the Gulf States) comes in the form of American bases and troops occupying those nations. Those American troops can always turn their guns on the nations they're "protecting."
By contrast, Israel refuses American bases, because it realizes that a "protector" can always turn their guns on you. Much better to insist on controlling the weapons you receive.
Israel gets the cream of our military tech. Its neighbors get second grade equipment and occupation troops.
So no, Israel would not do "even better" if all American "help" were ended to all nations.
Where you’re coming from is well understood for more than 3,000 years.
“In the U.S. cash transactions over $10,000 must be reported to the government carrying large amounts of cash risk it seizure and making transaction of less than $10,000 can be a crime if the government thinks you are trying to evade the reporting—it’s called ‘structuring’”
And that $10K has not been adjusted for inflation since it went into effect in 1972, thus allowing the feds to become increasingly intrusive.
Perhaps you're right, maybe you're not. The way I see it, diversification is prolly a prudent strategy.
A lil of this, lil of that for personal security and a bit extra for barter...AND having ca$h, gold and silver to boot.
Precious metals have been currency for thousands of years across the globe. My guess, there will always be some greedy sum-bish with something you'll need in exchange for gold.
Been that way for thousands of years.

Yep and Yep
