At the very least, it makes things worse.

I do news in general and a lot of Israel related news not so much politics I do a special on my blog called “Newsdump Friday” with the negative news dumped out going into the weekend.
In Israel the sabbath starts Friday at sundown so this story came out a little early on Thursday.
It’s the kind of story that the powerful people want to throw under rug and hope you forget about.
It makes them look bad.
Ok Not exactly what I had in mind but true
An acquaintance had to violently defend herself against rape from a fellow officer. Since the attack occurred off base and the town (Hopewell, VA) where the attack happened refused to charge any one the Army let the perp just resign under honorable conditions.
When the justice system fails you because it just doesn’t give a rat’s ass, it’s like being victimized a 2nd time.
As terrible as an experience might be, the edge can be taken off if it can be rationalized away in the context of a bigger goal.
It’s when there is no reason that can be given for the experience, or if the reason given was that you were worth the price to pay, it’s devastating.
Israel is probably in the position now where they can scrap conscription. They have 9.2 million people and their military is technologically advanced while their enemies are behind. And they have nukes.
well at least is was working for the “Commander”.
In her case the bigger goal was cowardly military officers just wanted a potential messy situation (both principals were black) to just go away. The victim was only informed of the disposition after it was done and the perp back home with mommy.
Her take exactly and she was told to just shut up about the issue if she knew what was good for her career.
That’s why she is messed up so badly, because she was worth the price of a peaceful prison.
