Apparently the picture was displayed on a number of sources, and supposedly each one introduced Gen Pavel (his first name) coming out of retirement to enter the war. The Daily Star quoted an anonymous “senior intelligence source” for the article. No name, just source.
It was picked up by virtually every other tabloid in the UK and by a lot of international newspapers. In Belgium @HLN_BE also ran the story: archive.ph/166h9. Putin may be grasping at straws for support by his own people so he provided a “bigger than life” military leader riding in dressed in an incorrect uniform willing to come out and give his all for the cause.

The fact that the fair story was picked by many sources doesn’t make it true.
“...doesn’t make it true.”
Didn’t say it was other than that’s what Putin wanted to do honest or not. Pavel never was a general, they didn’t use his last name, they had the incorrect uniform on him (probably with added fabric)..so how could they have brought a low level troop off retirement to become a general he never was?
I displayed the story was not just a single source but was in many different public sourced window displays. Putin is trying the old US media bait and lie to con people. But in that part of the world, that’s about all that is needed. So it did get wide display. And like the US liars, if you say it enough, someone will start to believe it. US liberals have been using that for well over a hundred years.
