IIRC,
The insurance company that furnished the appeal bond first received a very hefty, non refundable fee from Oberlin. This does not credit against any judgment claim. Next, I believe Oberlin had to put up collateral assets via liens sufficient to cover claims up to the policy limits.
In summary, the insurance company has a fixed, known rate of return profit from the start.

...that a college can be found guilty of libel for what some of its students do... Who's paying you to post? Please return to Democrat Underground.

How is your experience relevant?
Or did you attend some liberal college?
If you were owed $4,300 a day would you feel differently?

When the Ohio Supreme Court shoots them down, they’ll pay.

It’s for what the faculty did.

That’s a little remarkable, that a college can be found guilty of libel for what some of its students do
If you read the details of the case as it was happening, it was clear that Oberlin College was not a passive actor in the promotion of lies that would put a bakery out of business. The court found that too. This was a David over Goliath victory, as Oberlin has the local clout and access to better attorneys.

Can’t the family put financial liens against property held by the college? Put liens agains any and all physical property so whenever they try to use it for collateral; try to sell it; etc they have to pay the lien first.

Thanks. I’ve got a pretty thick skin. I figure, until I’m actually banned, I must be reasonably welcome...

Once again, leftist organizations are exempt from the law. This will change, folks. Not under the present system of government, it won't.
