Somewhere along the line this “racist” storyline crap has to stop. The media might like developing the narratives for the Dem politicians to use, but eventually there will be blowback and, other than white high school girls and black militants, it will fall on deaf ears for most of the “normal” population.
I had those on a 58 Impala I recently sold. All that time I didn’t realize covering the black tire with whitewalls made me such a racist. No wonder I got so many looks when driving around.
Meanwhile America’s enemies are taking note...
Well, they really did screw it up in San Francisco with the Embarcadero freeway. Not only was it ugly and unneeded, but it destroyed functional ethnic neighborhoods. I don’t think it was about color, but poor people usually lost big when lots of freeways were built, and sometimes entire neighborhoods (never the rich ones) were wiped out.

A little history first.
Eisenhower based the interstates on the German autobahns, which did not go into the cities. The first American limited-access highway based on the autobahn was the Pennsylvania Turnpike. If you look at a road atlas of Pennsylvania, you note is that the turnpike skirts Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and does not go into the cities. That was Ike’s plan.
In 1960 Eisenhower was in the presidential limo riding through DC when he noticed a block of brownstones being torn down. Ike asked his driver why. The answer was that this was the right-of-way of the future I-95. Ike was furious. Back at the White House he asked his chief of staff to find the culprit. It turned out to be a high-level bureaucrat at the Federal Highway Administration who had been there since 1927. Ike said, “Tell him that as of tomorrow he’s retired.” The bureaucrat retired, married the secretary with whom he had been carrying on an affair for years, and they took their honeymoon - - by train.
It was the Democrat administrations of Kennedy and Johnson where policy changed. Democrat machine politicians looked at urban freeway building as a form of urban renewal. Inside the clubhouse, they referred to urban renewal as “Negro removal.” Thriving black neighborhoods were razed, turning the surviving skeletons into the “hoods” we see today where the rule of law does not prevail.
Black politicians should have raised holy hell, but they had been bought off. Ironically, the urban anti-freeway movement came from white people who realized what destruction an urban freeway could wreak on a city. That’s how urban freeways were deleted from highway master plans in Washington, Philadelphia, New York, New Orleans and San Francisco.
In Philadelphia, it was Mayor Frank Rizzo, hardly a friend of the black man, who fought to get Philly’s urban freeways taken off the master plan. He also made sure that I-95 had limited interchange capacity with South Philadelphia, still primarily Italian.
It was the rationale behind Boston’s “Big Dig.”
That’s why Portland tore down a small stretch of freeway.
Buttplug is trying to undo the past, not understanding that his own party and department were responsible for it in the first place.
