Perhaps the legal challenge should be to ban French men from wearing tight fitting swim trunks…
LOL

Me too. However this just seems silly. Can’t people wear what they want?

Well, then I'm going to cancel my plans for the French summer vacation.
Major bummer - I was so looking forward to watching all those Muslim women in burkinis too.
Drat.

What a tragic loss...

Me too. However this just seems silly. Can’t people wear what they want? I'm actually with the French on this. You live in French, you follow their customs. After all, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."
If that's too hard, they can move to Canada, the country would be much more accepting.
Even USA would be better, they can wear what they want but the Americans would stare at them, probably.
To: MinorityRepublican
why would they care what women or men wear to the beach?
Some folk need that burkini out in public.

“Burkinis are worn largely by Muslim women as a way of preserving modesty and upholding their faith.”
Not quite. More like: “Burkinis are worn largely by Muslim women as a way of showing subservience to the men in their lives.”

-—waiting for the wet burkini contest——

I've spent some time in the UAE...including Dubai. While in the Mall of Dubai (an amazing place) one routinely sees guys in those long white gowns and things on their heads, wearing sandals, and women trailing behind them with those head to toe black things so all you can see is their eyes. However, those women are all wearing what appear to be *very* expensive shoes.
So I guess that "allah" doesn't forbid everything for women.

“ Men are normally obliged to wear tight-fitting swimming trunks…”
Well, that explains the fat guys in Speedos, I guess.

In the Middle East they say Spring break tourism dollars fell sharply since the wet burqua contests were banned.
Howling guys were disgusting, actually.

Sort of like when feminists demanded original Star Trek show anti-male future costumes in ST:the Next Generation and all later ones. Some sponsor must have pressured them to take Jeri Ryan for Voyager.
In William Shatner’s first memoir (of several) he recalled the horrible anti-male pants for the men in the thirst theatrical film Star Trek -——and the pathetic howls of pain as one after another actor had his testicles pinched hard by the cut of the pants as they moved too quickly.
