In practice, we would never get recalled unless the US was at death’s door.

If that were the case, they might have to notify us by pony express. 😀 I was sweating getting called back during the 91 Gulf war, but I didn’t. A guy I worked with, got a letter, asking him if he wanted to volunteer to come back. He politely said no, and he never heard another word about it.

Thanks.

Too bad the billions being pumped into Ukraine to hopefully destroy Russia isn’t being used to develop their underdeveloped potential reserves.

I got recalled for first Gulf War too, and tried to go, but was not given leave to do so For some reason I was deemed “essential”. I watched the war on CNN in the mess hall at our embassy in Moscow.

Too bad the feckless Russians aren’t killing Ukrainians in a bid to steal Ukraine’s wealth that could be used to develop the country.

Not even prior to 2014 did the government of Ukraine invest in itself.

Perhaps it was just too easy for their government to get paid for doing the bidding of the NWO, with 10% (minimum) for the Big Guy?

“Not even prior to 2014 did the government of Ukraine invest in itself.”

AGREED!!!!!

Because prior to the 2014 Maidan Revolution Ukraine was being pillaged by Putin-puppet Viktor Yanukovych who squandered possibly two billion dollars on his garish palace.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=yanukovych+palace&t=brave&ia=web

Prior to 2014 Ukraine was virtually a mirror of the gangster state of Russia. It was ruled by a Putin puppet, Russian oligarchs controlled much of the economy, and the feudal levels of systemic corruption typical of Russia ruled the day.

After 2014 Ukraine started working on the necessary governmental, legal, judicial, law enforcement, and other reforms required for membership in the European Union. Just like Poland did in the post-Soviet period and now Poland is a prosperous country lifting itself out of the gray decades of Soviet Russian subjugation.

And that is Putin’s biggest fear is a prosperous country on his borders where the rule of law trumps the rule of gangsters like himself. Can’t have the Russian people getting any silly ideas about rule of law and honesty in government, can we?

But yeah, Ukraine is working hard to cast off the last vestiges of Soviet Russian subjugation and the accursed scumbag Putin hates them for this.

Ceterum censeo Ruthenia esse delendam.

Exactly. It was easier to pimp their country to the elites than develop their own resources.
