I guess the have to dumb them down for in case they are captured by the Russians. Maybe some way could be designed to make the howitzer blow up if started without a password. Or perhaps small explosives or other destruct mechanism could be attached to secret parts so they are destroyed if not approached in the approved manner. I understand Russia is having problems trying to use US farm equipment they stole in Ukraine that won’t work unless approached correctly.
IAC, if they are available, I'll take two for the waterfront homestead... Need protection against any commie subs or ships in the Chesapeake Bay...
Ukraine bound M777s
Title of the video: "US Forces load American M777 155mm Howitzers bound for Ukraine"
Which was my point, they ain't "British."

You can have an M777, but you have to pay a $200 tax on the howitzer as an NFA Destructive Device, and a $200 tax on each round you own. (No refunds when you expend a round.)
Operating cost no problem if I could just keep my 83-year-old wife out of the casinos...
If that happened (by some miracle), maybe we could even eat something other than canned dog food...
In 1960, my Dad warned me about marrying a woman much younger than myself...
