Hahah....neither did Trump. He was universally adored by the left, black voters, white voters, rich and poor (the right wing probably hated him more than any other group). Trump dared to speak up. That is why he has a grab him by the P* moment(a private conversation as I remember). Trump took a lot of attacks because he loves the country,
No other reason. Also, since there is no clean candidate I want one whose “dirt” is all known that way when he gets in he can fight and do what needs to be done when he’s there without fear. The country is probably beyond repair but if it’s not the guy who has been fighting a stolen election even after “his party” had “moved on” is the only person with the courage to step on the ledge.
Btw, there is a pretty well known book about DeSantis and some young “friends” starting to make the rounds. Pretty bad stuff if true. It’s going to be hard to run from when the spotlight goes on it. Probably holding it until they’ve be rid of Trump.
Did you note several of these people flat out evaded and refused to answer the question?

There seems to be a tribal gene in people that causes them to think in binary terms. Maybe some sort of survival instinct? Who knows, but you see this kind of ‘dichotomy’ in thinking in all manner of things. People like A and don’t like B, even if there’s not really all that much difference between them. Thinking like this simplifies our world I guess.
If Trump or DeSantis are the standard bearers in ‘24 most conservatives will unite to support which ever one runs IMO. All this inter-tribal division will dissolve overnight in the face of a much greater threat.
Right. Like the people who think if you like dogs you have to hate cats. I remember there were always people who thought you had to decide if you liked the Rolling Stones or the Beatles.
