You can lay this stupidity at the feet of the U.S. Supreme Court. They didn’t start it, but they have voted to legalize stupidity.
Worse, the justices claim this was what the founders intended all along.

The last time I gave blood I wasn't asked this question, but that was a month ago so maybe they have updated the questionnaire. For many years the American Red Cross has turned away potential donors if they spent too much time in the UK. I guess they can't do that in the UK.
Sorry about that just the way I see things.
