Yeah, but some take out second mortgages or keep rolling the mortgages, or sell and buy bigger houses for decades. I'd like to see us at a minimum not add to the debt every year. And normally advocate policies that would help acheive that. But in Ukraine's case let's not be penny wise and pound foolish. or a stich in time saves nine. I see providing Ukraine weapons as an expense that prevents much larger expenses in the future.
- We do not want the territorial borders of free countries invaded at will by dictatorial powers.
- We do not want Russia to have more of a monopoly on oil and gas than they already do. And Easter Ukraine and Crimea have resources.
- We do not want Russia to have more of a monopoly on grain production than they already do. Ukraine is known as the breadbasket of Europe. You can already see the concern about food in Africa because of this war. Letting Russia roll over Ukraine will make this problem endemic instead of a short term phenomenon.
- And if we don't stop Russia now, it's clear from Putin's statements that he is eyeing the baltics, Part of Finland and others.

Also, people pay down their mortgages, because they expect to retire someday, and need to eliminate that expense.
Immortals never pay down their mortgages. They just keep rolling them over and investing the proceeds. (Prove me wrong)

Danny in post #25 uses the fallacy of someone having 100k as year to spend and having a 250k plus mortgage when looking at $66 trillion in US debt when all is said and done with $25 trillion a year coming in:
The US wouldnt give all $25 trillion each year until the 66 trillion is paid off but maybe 3 trillion a year.
That would mean after all assets forever are seized the US would have 100k a year coming in and a mortgage of 2.2 million to pay off, and at 0% interest which isn’t going to happen.

How much so far? It’s OUR money he’s sending! Why does he owe Ukraine so much money? Is it to pay them off for doing favors for his family?
Obviously the general public has no clue, but knows which celebrities have paralyzed faces and which don’t.

Biden defends massive Ukraine corruption giveway with unhinged screaming:
“I don’t want to hear anymore of these lies about reckless spending. We’re changing people’s lives.”.....
So Fire up the printing press! Send Zelensky another billion more!
We have record breaking inflation and gas prices, food shortages, and our Gov’t is spending billions of our dollars on a war that they know Ukraine can’t win....

Your math is wrong. The mortgage balance doesn't increase depending on how much you pay each month or the interest rate.
