After defense, perhaps, the primary focus of our national government should be energy independence. If ANY president ties our hand with respect to energy self-sufficency, they should be drawn and quartered. We should be beholding to no one for our energy needs. Talk about being vulnerable. If we can do it with unicorn farts, fine, but that day is not here now. Until then, petroleum, coal, nuclear, whatever. Take over Venezuela, if need be. The United States should go hat in hand to nobody. Rush was right, oil is the life blood of our democracy,
