I think you find that my comments are about putting up the best candidate TO WIN. I’m not anti-Trump, and I love his record while President. My concern is that we must win in 2024, above all else, including Trump worshiping. When I look at things objectively, including Trump’s demeanor, I think DeSantis gives us “the best” chance of winning.

Spot on, from my own experience as well.
DeSantis will be in a very different position by this time next year, and it won’t be favorable. The combination of bungled condo safety legislation coming out of the recent special session and 100% property insurance premium increases in the same condos is going to create an awfully big headwind for DeSantis.
The Dems and their media trolls are going to beat him over the head with it, doing their best to replace the public’s image of the guy who got the pandemic right with anecdotes of the guy who made grandma sell her condo and move into the basement with her recent college grad incel grandson.
I like DeSantis, but he’s behind the curve on this issue. Trump will be a pure play without the state-level baggage.

It’s either #2 (VP) or nothing. We can’t afford to have him as president again. He consistently hires people who oppose the MAGA agenda and despise MAGA supporters. My family’s freedoms are too important for me to support Trump again as the nominee for president. We need somebody who hire pro-MAGA people, not backstabbers and fraggers.

BTW, this was the same ranked choice, non partisan poll as last years straw poll from this organization and the vote counters in this straw poll counted DeSantis a three point (75% to 72%) ranked choice winner in both polls.

Don’t imagine they won’t go after DeSantis just as hard as they did Trump.
This happens every time. We pick someone, they start digging up dirt, or inventing dirt, and in short order we’re saying darn, if only we picked someone with less baggage.
They will do this no matter who you pick. If you can find a Republican the DNC press likes you’ve already been sold out. Pick your man, and if he has the courage to face the mud storm that’s coming the least you can do is stand by him.
