Without microstamping, they never would have been able to find out who did those shootings!

Did they microstamp the cartridge? Because with a microscope you can get a pretty good idea who shot the gun. And all the perp has to do is count his shots and grab the brass.

Fmr NY Gov. Elliot Spitzer proposed a similar hairbrained scheme, imprinting serial numbers on bullets, 20 yrs ago. He was forced to resign amid a nasty prostitution scandal. It figures.

Microstamping will only be mandatory for new gun purchases if it is determined that microstamping is technically doable. The last time they studied it, it was not.

This has been proposed before and dismissed as absurd by technical experts.
