I appreciate your detail in your post and having seen your solid history here for two decades, I appreciate and am enlightened by your local insight.

Dear Michael Barone,

I am more of a historical conservative Republican than a shill for Donald Trump. I did not vote for him in the 2016 primary.

I supported him in the general election and was flabbergasted at how much he followed his campaign promises and worked for the USA to MAGA. I think he was hamstrung without a large enough group of conservatives to serve him and backstabbers who should have served better.

Do I pay attention to his endorsements — absolutely. Would I let him be King-Maker in 24? You bet your ass.

Yea, its frustrating... this is a state that has had complete GOP control of the state legislature for 24 of the last 28 years.. and the 4 years it didn’t control it completely it only lost 1 house. Of those 28 years it has also had the governorship 12 of those 28 years, and all 12 of those years it also controlled both houses of the legislature.

Dems have had the governorship 16 of those years and 1 house for 4 of those years, that’s it... but the rank and file republicans just keep on blaming the democrats... No I am not giving the democrats a pass, but the real issue in PA is the State GOP are absolutely useless. Harrisburg is a swamp and is at least on par with if not in some ways worse than DC.

However until the GOP PA electorate wake up and realize their party needs forced to change, nothing is going to.

I grew up in and for most of my life lived alongside the Kansas suburbs of Kansas City. The Republicans in Kansas have been totally divided for 60 years. I have known three governors slightly and met another three — all fine people but the inability for them to find common ground and agreed good candidates the two factions can equally support has been a stupid thing to follow since the 1950s.

Oh the PA GOP is absolutely in agreement on who they will support…

It’s always the establishment Uniparty hack.

...
but Republicans may not renominate this former president in 2024, just as they declined to renominate Ulysses S. Grant in 1880 and Theodore Roosevelt in 1912.
....

IMO, Trump is to where age begins to impact decisions and I’m
not sure how strong the party will actually vote/support him.
If he does run then the VP choice would be critical towards a
nominee in four years out. Trump could almost assure someone
as being the nominee with his support, imo.
