Don't rule out internal dissent in Russia to the war. Blowing up fuel supplies limits the ability for Russia to engage in an offensive war, and that reduces troop casualties. WWI caused the fall of the Romanovs. Invading Ukraine could destroy Tsar Putin's empire as well.

Russia invaded Ukraine, is eyeing Moldova next, and has its sights on controlling eastern Europe. Putin wants to fulfill Czarist dreams of empire and put the USSR back on the map.

Austin is stating the obvious. Of course the U.S. wants Russia to have a weaker military. So does everyone else in Europe right now. Why is this so hard to understand?
