I get a lot of use out of plastic pill bottles, storing small parts in my shop especially. I rarely ever throw one away.

Box material permeability to water (once opened) is one problem....child proofing is another problem. They could use waxy coatings on the box, and a snap tight or screw tight opening made of easily degradable material to get the pills out of the box.
