I’ve looked for the “Empire of Lies” speech on line in full from Russian or other sources - but it is BLOCKED.

One gets the idea he’s speaking to an intelligent and educated populace.
Well he makes some good points but weakens it by saying that the USSR tried to avoid war in 39-40 when the USSR invaded Poland with Germany to start it.
But - the rest will play well with his audience.
The takeaway seems to be he’s a lying murdering bastard, but at the moment he’s reduced his goals considerably to save face.

In most of human history the elites controlled information and speech.
The reason was very simple—they had the political power and wanted to keep it.
If the citizens could speak freely they might decide that the elites were exploiting them and might decide to do something about it.
The elites always fear that the people might disseminate “disinformation”—which equals any views that oppose the ruler’s narratives—and “conspiracy theories” which suggest that the few are exploiting the many.

An excellent description and summation of the attitude of the Establishment / Deep State and its allies in Big Tech, Big Business, Big Pharma and the media. They steal elections, create fake pandemics, force medical experiments on the global population, mandate what may / may not be said, promote and normalize sexual deviancy, and indoctrinate our children with ideology and beliefs contrary our wishes and values. And they do so in unison and without fear of retribution.

well, if we go by what the respective leaders say, he is by far the most articulate. (I know, the 2 minutes hate brigade will fact-check me).
Everything can be shaded, but when one guy just calls the other names and calls for removal of the opponent, and the other can lay out a case this well, it calls into question who exactly is the greater problem.
put it another way, postulate that there are currently 3 great powers in the world. if you look at the public messaging, and even policies of the 3, one has become completely unhinged in its messaging and propaganda.
Wars are a good way to deflect from internal economic issues, btw.
