I’ve seen estimates of the Holodomor as high as 11 million. 2 is rather low.
Sucks to suck, eh Russkie?
“The land bridge is unassailable. Its all open farmland with some trees planted between farm plots, it would be suicidal to attack.”
It would be suicidal to attack with a big obvious mass of mechanized forces, that could be destroyed by single guys with Javelins under any bush, and easily spotted by drones.
That is what the Russians did. Now those Javelin snipers can creep up to within a mile of their vehicles from any direction, kill them, and be back home in bed with the honey the same night.
The terrain you describe is ideal kill zone for those Javelins. The Ukrainians don’t need some macho head to head tank battle, they just need to kill the Russians as economically as possible, until the remnants run for their lives. Just keep infiltrating Javelin snipers and ambush teams. Hit and run, on a wide scale. Hundreds of hits per day, and night.
If the Russians get out of their vehicles, they are grossly outnumbered in a sea of locals, who will almost all call in their location upon sight.

Thought I had remembered Kherson’s bio lab being hit the first day Russia entered Ukraine to hit the bio labs. It was a level 3 lab working with various pathogens.
Cost to get off of Russian supply is not a decision factor any more in the West. It pales before the military and reconstruction costs of actual military conflict. Those costs are now assumed, rather than discounted as low risk.
There is no longer skimping on the cost to drop Russian supplies as quickly as possible. Billions of Euros were committed to building European LNG port capacity, just since Russia invaded the Ukraine. NordStreamII is a useless hunk of metal under the sea. Major new delivery contracts were signed with the USA.
Russia will need to construct new infrastructure to new markets - but without the investment capital that is racing to build Europe’s alternative infrastructure.
I think you are poorly informed. Asian-bound infrastructure is getting constructed since the early problems of NSII project.
Germany has already reduced energy imports from Russia by a third, and are on now track to completely replace Russian supplies in 30 months (they had planned increases, prior to the war).
The whole of the EU is working like this now.
“Relatively, Ukraine can muster many more drunks in their personally owned vehicles, than Russia can main battle tanks with well trained crews.”
Absolutely true. Indisputable.
Which is why, if Russia intends to achieve a victory (however they have defined it) they will be forced to go full-on scorched earth.
They have that conventional capability.
High level bombing with iron bombs. MRLS. FAE. 152mm howitzers. They could make a lot of Ukraine look just like Mariupol.
I am a veteran investor in energy and based on my estimations it is bull crap.
So two million is very possibly a low number.
“They could make a lot of Ukraine look just like Mariupol.”
As one retired three-star recently put it, that would require three things that they don’t have enough of - time, ammunition and (trained) people.
Their mechanized forces will die in droves, as the supply of anti-armor missiles arrives at the front in droves. They are wedded to their vehicles, and those vehicles are easy to find with drones, and everyone on the street calling in their location.
The first two weeks, the supply of missiles went to bolster the defense of Kiev and a few other cities. Then there increasingly became plenty for everyone. After the second week, Russian advances halted. Now they are starting to fall back. Javelin teams will pursue them, day and night. Artillery within range to bombard the cities, is also within range for the city dwellers to come out at night with Javelins after them, and drone strike them as well.
The party is over for the spread out Russians and their overstretched supply lines, with the glaring heat signatures of their engines. Too many hunters, and too few places to hide.
Russians getting blasted at the Kherson airport again right now.
the Russians are clamiing that the locals are watching Russian TV and using Rubles as currecny
