Given they’re ultimately to blame for NATO’s existence, it’s not surprising.

That problem occurred to me when I first saw the announcement about sending the SA-7s to Ukraine.

No longer safe too handle...
Uh, I think that’s exactly what we’re looking for.
Hey ruskies, don’t touch this IED, it’s not safe to handle, or drive over....signed Zelensky

The 1967 USS Forrestal flight deck fire (and near self-induced sinking) was probably the result of aging WW-2 munitions being loaded onto the day’s strike aircraft. Ordnance men and officers were appalled by the horrible condition of the bombs and rockets.
Almost 140 sailors and airmen died in that conflagration.

Bases full of corroded nerve and mustard gas bunkers, blue grass depot, aberdeen..
Spent near a billion to burn them in Hawaii then decided they are too brittle to transport..

Reminiscent of all the .30-06 ammo produced for World War I, that sat in inventory for twenty years and was already developing “season cracks” in the case necks by the late 30s.

Akin to the Spanish Civil War, when the Soviets and Poles were paid good money for arms that turned out to be worn junk.

Are the Russians trying to use some weapons in similar condition on Ukraine?
