I’ll bet most people don’t even know that the Austro-Hungarian Empire ignited WWI or that it even existed.
It was the biggest loser of WWI, having been completely dismantled by the victors.

Me, too. I commented the other day that if Russia gets truly bogged down, stand by. It won’t be pretty. They are not going to lose this. If Putin goes scorched earth, I wonder if other countries will be able to stay out of it.
“United Nations” was a term already being used during WWII by the Allies as a self description. It has some roots in that WWII alliance, the UN was organized before Japan surrendered. The founding members were the Allied heavyweights plus China.
Nothing can be what it is, it has to be something that already was.

I was responding to post #9 about celebrities posing online singing John Lennon’s “Imagine”.
Two of these same women post videos on line regularly of themselves in their birthday suits.
One of oddest aspects is that the royals involved were largely cousins. Queen Victoria was the grandmother of King George V, Kaiser Wilhelm, Tsar Nicholas, and Ferdinand of Romania.
Charles of Austria was a Hapsburg so only distantly related to the others.

Pat Buchanan made a very strong case for Americans being the trigger of WW 2 by interfering and changing the balance of power in WW 1. OUR elites wanted to restructure things in their favor, not in mankinds or Americans favor.

True, I've listened to many of the news broadcasts of the time, and the term "United Nations" was used as early as 1942.
They learned that much more recently in Grozny in 1994-1995. I am amazed they are having issues remembering something from only 30 years ago.

It really surprised me when I saw Eisenhower use in something issued during the war. I had no idea it was used interchangeably with “Allies”.
