People being touting that Putin has long been ‘on shaky’ ground and yet the geopolitical chessmaster continues to survive.
Stalin or not, Putin old school ex-KGB, they dont mess around. They will be dealt with by Putin, be assured.
Wow! Good for them.
They should have done this when the Russian parliament gave Putin the go ahead.
150 unexpected deaths coming up
Probably the worst result of Chamberlain and Munich, was afterwards Hitler was untouchable, there was a chance had Hitler indeed gone to war in 1938, there was enough support from the Generals to remove Hitler, but after Munich, that became impossible.
Russia has a solid history of murdering millions of Ukrainian civilians.
“Putin isn’t Stalin, I believe he’s on shakier ground than people may think.”
Stalin was a sadistic simpleton who mistakenly trusted Hitler.
Putin is an intelligent sociopath who wants to avoid Hitler’s mistakes.
I am not a fan of Putin. Not at all. But I recognize his clear ability to consolidate power and his obvious ability to cow and intimidate the West into letting him have what he wants.
What’s being missed in this invasion of Ukraine is the fact that Russia has also effectively invaded and occupied Belarus and Moldova. Putin’s success in rebuilding the Soviet Empire is much greater than most people realize.
And that makes him dangerous and that’s also why we don’t need flaccid sanctions against his regime, we need an immediate and total trade embargo against Russia.
Anything less than that means we’re still funding Russia’s military.
I don't think he trusted Hitler as much, as it was he knew he wouldn't be ready to launch an offensive until 1943. The thing that Stalin didn't expect was for France to fall so easily, he envisioned another stalemate that would bleed the armies dry, so he could swoop in.
Is the Russian army mostly conscripts these days ?
.....More than 150 senior Russian officials [all of whom mysteriously committed suicide shortly thereafter... signed an open letter...”
There.... fixed that....!!!!
Something in my gut tells me Putin is about to have his ass handed to him not only by the Uks but Crimea, et. al.
I think these people (the whole world) are tired of being slaves to Russian.
Putin is living in the past.
OMG……. The U.N. Security Council is going to vote, on Friday, to condemn Russia!
“Stalin was a sadistic simpleton who mistakenly trusted Hitler.”
Well, you got the spelling of the two names right. Beyond that you reveal an appalling lack of historical understanding. Much as you, I, and others may despise Stalin - and rightly so, he was a sadistic monster - he was no simpleton. He won the strategy poker game time after time with a weak hand. He clearly outmaneuvered Hitler and most of the other world leaders of the time, much to our lasting shame.
Thankfully, he was succeeded by increasingly incompetent leaders, leading to the collapse of the Soviet system.
When does Hans Brix go to Moscow?

White House rants about “severe” economic sanctions on Russia. Back in the real world, Russia has 2,300 tonnes of gold and produces 10 million barrels of oil per day. Gains on gold = $10 billion so far. Gains on oil = $3 billion per month so far. It’s all gain. Where’s the pain?
Do they drive trucks?
It's strong talk like that will tidy these matters up!
When he does, I’m pretty sure he will applaud Joe Biden’s critical thinking.
Peace and quiet Putin hates it
Expect the former head of the KGB to make them all disappear.
They signed an “open letter.” As opposed to a “closed letter?”

Closed letters are delivered via a bullet in the back of the head.
